A series of lectures on science, technology and medicine. A wide range of issues will be discussed from the origin of the Universe and the origin of life to the DNA science and technology and the advent of personalized medicine. The lectures are intended to a lay audience and will be given by leading scientists and science popularizers from the Boston area.
The first lecture of the series, “The Jewish Genes”, will be given by Dr. Maxim Frank-Kamenetskii, professor of biomedical engineering at Boston University. He will discuss how modern human genetics, based on massive DNA sequencing, transforms our understanding of genetic differences between ethnic groups and our knowledge of the very origin of such groups as Ashkenazi Jews.
