Journey Without Goals
In the wake of recent global events, many are forced to leave their homes and familiar lives behind. Some flee war-conflicts, becoming refugees, others leave due to disagreement with the actions of their government and the danger of being in opposition to the authorities.
"Journey Without Goals," by USA-Georgian artist Uta Bekaia, is dedicated to these modern nomads.
Composed of a series of smaller ceramic sculptures, the installation evokes a procession of creatures wandering through the woods. Inspired by Japanese Jizo statues, these beings represent deities lost in the chaos of the contemporary world, seeking a new haven, a place of harmony. Their aimless search leads them to a profound realization: the true goal lies in the journey itself.
The sculptures, like these modern nomads, are in constant motion, seeking a sense of belonging amidst a turbulent world. "Journey Without Goals" invites viewers to contemplate the resilience and adaptability of the human spirit in the face of uncertainty, reminding us that even in the absence of clear destinations, the journey itself can be a profound and meaningful experience.
